There are currently four grading levels which apply to each Irish dance performed by the dancer – beginner, primary, intermediate and open.
Competitors starts at the beginner level and are graded in the following ways:
1. A section must have a minimum of two schools entered for an upgrade to apply.
2 Being placed first in a competition where there are 8 or more competitors.
3. Beginner and Primary dancers aged 13 years and over will be graded when placing first in a section of 5 or more.
4. Intermediate dances aged 17 Years & Over will be graded when placing first in a section of 5 or more.
5. Winning a dance at a level twice when there are less competitors than listed above.
6. Being placed second in a section where there are 16 or more competitors regardless of the ages of the competitors.
7. At the discretion of the Teacher. This can be done at any time throughout the year and should be submitted in writing to the Registrar.
